The Brief
The client required a robust outdoor steel staircase in Manenberg that could withstand heavy daily use and long-term outdoor exposure. The structure needed to meet full safety compliance standards while being strong enough to be craned and lifted into position on site. A standard prefabricated solution could not meet the structural or dimensional requirements — a fully custom fabrication was specified from the outset.

Steelrite engineered, fabricated, and installed the staircase end-to-end — from the initial structural design brief through to precision on-site installation using lifting equipment.
Structural Design & Engineering Brief
Worked with the client to establish load requirements, dimensions, and safety specifications. The staircase was designed to be structurally sound for heavy outdoor use and suitable for crane-assisted installation.
Steel Fabrication & Galvanising
Fabricated the full staircase structure in our Cape Town workshop using structural mild steel — including stringers, treads, and handrails. All components were hot-dip galvanised prior to delivery for long-term corrosion resistance and outdoor durability.
On-Site Installation
Delivered the fabricated staircase to site and coordinated the crane lift for precise positioning and installation. All anchor points were secured, connections completed, and the structure was inspected for full safety compliance before handover.
